Ways Amazing Marvin Can Help You STOP Procrastinating

When it comes to beating procrastination, few tools are better than Amazing Marvin.

It is one of the few systems where fighting back against overwhelm and overthinking are built into the tool and systems itself.

You might have missed these tools or you are already aware of them, but let's go over how Amazing Marvin can help you beat procrastination.

Ways Amazing Marvin Can Help You STOP Procrastinating

Keep in mind, you will find most of these in the "Features and Strategies" section of Amazing Marvin.

To find that section, when you're looking at the web version of Marvin, go to the upper right side of your screen where you will see three horizontal lines.

Then, click "Features and Strategies". Voila! There they are!

Keep in mind, some of the views below may be different due to how I have my preferences and strategies set up. The main idea should still apply, though!

  1. Procrastination Wizard

To find the Procrastination Wizard tool, you'll want to hover over a task.

You should see a little "!" on the right hand side when you over over it.

This will open up this screen for you to see only the task and walk you through various prompts in order to understand why you're working on a task.

This will walk you through many reasons you might want to start working on this task or why you should put it off and work on something more important.

When you finish the task, you will see a huge celebration option, which is one of my favorite features. It feels nice to celebrate the baby steps along the way!

2. Super Focus Mode

When you're looking at your Today view, near your list of tasks you should see three dots "...".

When you click on that, you will see a lot of options pop up that are designed to help you tackle your tasks throughout the day.

When you click on Super Focus Mode, it eliminates everything and lets you only see the first task on your to do list, and nothing else.

3. The Wall

The wall view lets you see your tasks in a different way.

The goal of this is to "break down the wall" so you can get things done and tackle the tasks that you want to tackle at a time.

If you find yourself overwhelmed and thinking too much, just a simple mix up of how you view your tasks can help you pick the next task to tackle.

4. Truncate List

This gives you a wide variety of options as you can see in the image below.

This helps you only see a certain amount of tasks at a time, preventing overwhelm and procrastination due to having a long list.

There are a lot of ways to customize it, such as only being able to see a certain number of tasks at a time or being able to order the tasks as they come into your shortened list.

5. Get suggested task

This option leverages Marvin's own internal ranking factor to pick a task out of your list to work on.

It ranks things by various factors such as due date, priority, and so on, to simply show you one task to start working on.

This can help a lot when you want a task to just randomly be chosen for you because you cannot pick one yourself or they all feel important. (A common trait among people with ADHD!)

6. Get random task

This is another option in the Today view.

Instead of using the algorithm from the strategy above, this just randomly selects a task on your list.

This one is helpful because often we don't want to start with the task that is the actual priority and instead want one that can help simply get the ball rolling on a productive day.

7. Place all into a jar

This is another strategy that simply changes up how you view your tasks.

Instead of some insane, overwhelming list, this lets you see them all in a little fishbowl looking icon where you can click on it and have it pick out one task at a time.

8. Suggested task (based on your calendar)

I do believe in order for this strategy to work, you need to have your calendar feature turned on. I use Marvin's calendar versus importing from my Google Calendar (for now!).

This lets you see the image above in your day and as you can see with the little Marvin icon on my day overview, it gives me a suggested task based on my daily calendar and time blocks.

This feature is a little advanced, but my YouTube channel has some breakdowns on how you can set this up.

Otherwise, feel free to book a call with me below and I can walk you through how to set it up for yourself.
